Seattle in September 2008

It only comes around every two years, and this year we are back to a land and sea, fun-filled weekend. The Corvette Marque Club of Seattle will be celebrating its fifth SIS.

Rivers Edge Hotel We have lined up a south central base of operation and fun. The Rivers Edge Hotel on West Valley Hwy in Tukwila will be our home and home base for the weekend of September 12-14th. The hotel just completed a several million dollar renovation and has the best in room comforts and conveniences, including microwaves, new plasma TV’s and refrigerators. There is a large, flat parking lot that will be cordoned off for us. Hoses will be available on site to wash off your car during your stay. Rooms are reserved at $92 each for a double room with either a king size bed, two queens or doubles.

We don’t think you’ll spend much time in your room with all that is planned. Starting Friday, we kick off the event with a CMCS welcome and reception Friday afternoon and early evening. After that will be the tradition valve cover races to see what is the latest in competitive design, technology, luck and ultimately speed. Whether you are a race car owner/sponsor or a sidetrack fan, it gets the weekend going.

After a comfortable nights rest, however long that is, you can partake of the hotel breakfast provided as a part of your room package. Then we will start the day with a Show N Shine in a nearby public location.

Once the viewing and judging is done, we will embark on a driving event on the east side of Seattle, heading toward Snoqualmie Falls.

If you fall out to shop, wander or take a nap, you’ll want to be ready by 5 p.m. to board the buses to the Lady Mary departing from Pier 55 in Elliot Bay, Seattle. We will have a three-hour (on the water) cruise with a catered dinner and live entertainment. When we return to port, the buses will return you safely to the Rivers Edge for another night’s sleep on your pillow top mattress or watching the flat screen TV.

Sunday you’ll want to refresh and grab a breakfast before viewing the raffle items for the morning’s activities. Raffles, drawings and awards will be interspersed through the morning. As in the past, we will keep things moving so all can be heading for check out by 11 a.m.

Somewhere in between you may find time to use the exercise room, swim in the outdoor pool or hot tub, or wander down the river trails across the street. We are located close to I-5 and I-405 with I-90 just minutes away.
