August 6, 2021 MT BAKER TOUR

       One Day, All Day

CMCS Mt. Baker Tour - Friday, August 6th

CMCS Coordinator Kevin Jewell

Mt. Baker, Farmland, Whatcom County, Washington State | Brett Baunton

Back by popular demand is the CMCS Mt Baker Tour.  Last year we were stopped about a mile from Artist Point at the Visitor's Center due to Covid.  Although the view from the Visitor's Center was nice, we are hopeful that the full route will be open this summer.

Register soon on the CMCS Website, so that if we reach a practical limit for managing the tour, parking at the site and lunch stop, we can consider a 2nd tour to accommodate everyone while keeping each tour size lower.

Date:  Friday, Aug 6, 2021

Time:  Meet at 7:00 AM, Driver's meeting at 7:15, and departure at 7:30 AM SHARP

Meeting Location:  I 405, NE 160th Park and Ride (Exit 22).  P & R is west of the freeway.  Meet at west end of parking area as that is usually less crowded.

Mt Baker can be very busy on the weekend, so we have chosen to visit on a Friday.  We apologize for the meeting hour, but we have a long, but nice, drive.  In the route directions we have allowed one hour at Artist Point, which makes the total time to lunch at 5 1/2 hours.  You will have a chance to get a snack at the first rest stop in Sedro Wooley.

We are doing this tour on a weekday to avoid heavy weekend crowds at Artist Point, our destination at Mt. Baker. It can be busy on weekdays as well, so we need  to limit our tour size.

Register soon!

In every member study we have done, our members indicate that tours are high on their list of activities.  Friday, August 6th, CMCS has planned an all-day tour to Mt Baker.  Artist Point at Mt Baker gets very crowded on weekends, so we will be touring on a weekday.  We realize that weekdays don’t work for everyone, but then not even weekends work for everyone.  Please sign up for the tour on the web site.  There is a practical limit as to how many people we can manage on the tour, parking at picnic point (which can still be busy on a weekday), and at our lunch stop.  If we have high interest, we will look at adding another tour day to accommodate, which is why we request that if you're interested that you sign up on the web site.   Hope to see you there.
