July 13, 2021 SCCA Track Night America

Are you interested in getting your car out on a track to see what its capable of? If you answered yes, we are planning a caravan to SCCA Track Night in America on July 13,2021 at the Ridge Motorsports Park in Shelton, WA.  The Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) runs the Track Night in America events.  You will need to register for the track event on the SCCA site Track Night 2021: Ridge Motorsports Park - July 13 - Track Night in America.  The event is Tuesday July 13th and runs from 2PM to 9PM. The cost for the SCCA Track Night in America is $165 for SCCA members and $175 for those that are not members of SCCA.

Shaun Hayes will be leading a caravan to the Ridge Motorsports Park for event participants.  If you want to join the caravan to the Ridge Motorsports Park, please register  on the CMCS web site. That will help us know who to expect and communicate with those participants regarding the logistics for the caravan.   

The caravan will leave from the Newport Hills Park and Ride on I405. The address for the park and ride is 5115 113th Pl SE, Bellevue, WA 98006. We plan to depart at 12:30PM for arrival at 2pm when the gates open.  The event completes at 7:40PM and we will plan departure from the track at 8pm.

A few frequently asked questions about track events:

  • ·         Do you need a helmet?  Yes, Snell SA 2005 or later helmets are required. The Ridge does not have loaner helmets or helmet rentals.  If you do not have a helmet there are several good options available from online and local retailers. 
  • ·         Are their different participant classes at the event? Yes, there are three classes: novice, intermediate and advanced. Each class runs three 20-minute sessions during the event. Each session includes only participants in that class.  As part of the registration process, you will be asked questions regarding your track experience to help you decide what class you should request to run in.
  • ·         Is a guest allowed in the venue or to ride along with a participating driver? No, at this this time the COVID restrictions do not allow guests. This may change and we will provide an update if we receive new guidelines.
  • ·         Are instructors available at the track? Yes, there will be local instructors at the track.  They will observe drivers from the pits and provide guidance if a participant asks.  The instructors will not ride along with a participant in their car.
  • ·         Is track insurance available for the event? Yes, SCCA has an arrangement with Hagerty Insurance to provide High Performance Driving Event (HPDE) insurance plans.  You can explore your options at Hagerty On-Track Insurance.
