Fort Casey has multiple picnic tables available, and several wide-open grass areas where we can set our folding chairs. You should plan to bring all your own picnic food, drink, and utensils. If possible, bring and set up canopy tents for either bright sun or light rain.
The weather is generally still good in August, so we will hope for the best. Check the weather here: Seattle Weather. In the event of heavy rain, we will forgo the club meeting and continue to Langley for lunch, using Drive C (23.9 miles).
Fort Casey is a state park and each car will need a State Discover Pass. If you don’t already have one, you can purchase online or at the park kiosk ($10 single day pass or $30 annual pass).
We have several options after the picnic/meeting:
· Tour the Fort Casey battlements and the big guns that were installed during WWI to protect the entrance to Puget Sound.
· Tour the lighthouse & interpretive center at end of the park road.
· You can drive back up the island to take the freeway home.
· Use Drive C (23.9 miles) to continue to Langley to visit the town and shops, including suggested stops for Langley lunch.
· Take WA-525 to the Clinton ferry terminal (only a few miles from Langley) to catch the ferry to Mukilteo every 30 minutes. Check the return ferry schedule here: Schedule
