    DECEMBER 5, 2020 LET'S GO FOR A DRIVE

CMCs has put together a December tour for your enjoyment.  Although the destination is familiar, the route is different.  I know I had never been on some of these roads, and I suspect your experience is similar.  The plan is to depart XXX Drive In in Issaquah at 10:00 AM SHARP on Saturday, Dec 5.  The tour should take us about 1:40 which will hopefully will get us to Snohomish to find close parking.  We are expecting partly cloudy, but dry weather.   If you have put your Corvette away for the winter, please join us in any of your vehicles.  This is as much about a chance to get out of the house as a Corvette specific tour.  We will be following all mask and distancing protocols throughout the tour.  Don't forget to bring your club radios, it is always nice to be able to communicate as we travel. You will get an email when you register with the directions. Please print a copy and bring it with you.  This will reduce our need to pass out directions at the start.  Hope to see you bright eyed on Saturday

Don't have a radio?  We will have some for sale at the start of the event for $40. (Cash)

    MAY 15 & 16 2021 AUTOCROSS WEEKEND

The club participates in two autocross sessions during the Autocross Weekend.  Both are held at an abandoned landing strip at the Shelton Airport in Shelton Washington.  The event on Saturday is sponsored and run by the Viper Club.  The event on Sunday is put on by the NWACC organization.  NWACC stands for NorthWest Association of Corvette Clubs and CMCS is a member of that group.

If you want to participate in these events, please RSVP here so we will know you are wanting to come and we will put you on our email list for these events.

But an RSVP will not get you access to either event.  YOU MUST REGISTER WITH EACH SPONSORING GROUP!

To register with the Viper club click  HERE

To register with NWACC click  HERE

You should pay for each event on line in advance.  The cost depends on if you are a member of CMCS or of the Viper club.  Membership is not expensive in either organization and if you are a member of CMCS you get a discount on the NWACC events.

We usually have a caravan you can join on Saturday morning.  We have a planned route and people join the caravan as we go.  We stop in Shelton for breakfast and then continue onto the track and arrive about 7 AM at the Shelton airport.

Upon arrival we check-in, prepare the car and our site then walk the track to learn it til the event is ready to start. The events start at 9:am or earlier.

Emails are sent out prior to each event notifying attendees of departure times and locations if you want to travel with the group.  Otherwise we will see you there.

You should bring your club radio.

    SUB TOUR

    August Sub Tour Update

CMCS keeps our members and the Navy’s health and safety first when scheduling Sub Tours. Due to the recent Coved 19 spikes in King, Snohomish and other Washington counties the August 2020 Sub Tour was cancelled.

We have rescheduled the Tour to Tuesday May 18th 2021. More information will follow on the website and in the newsletter.

    Dwain Knollman, coordinator

This is a Members ONLY tour

The Navy has extended an invitation to CMCS to tour their top-secret U.S. Government facility at Bangor Submarine Base in Bangor, WA on Tuesday May 18th 2021. The group is limited to 35, so early reservations are encouraged.

    Requirements for each person:

    1. Must be a US Citizen and over the age of 11.
    2. Completed Tour Roster with current last name, first name, date of birth, last four digits of your social security number, confirmation of US Citizenship, Title, e-mail address and contact phone number
    3. Completed Request for Tour form, signed and witnessed (important)
    4. Completed and signed Privacy Statement

Contact email Dwain through the Club Directory for the required forms OR Click  HERE  to send Dwain an email.  You CANNOT register for this event on-line.  You MUST email Dwain.

The day of the tour, you will be required to bring proof of US Citizenship — US Passport, Birth Certificate or Enhanced WA Driver’s License. NOTE: Active duty and retired military IDs are not accepted because you do not have to be a U.S. citizen to be in the military.

If your name has changed due to marriage you will need a copy of the Marriage Certificate or a driver’s license with your current name.

We plan to have a caravan from Fry’s near exit 5 on I-405 departing shortly after 7 AM the morning of the tour and ending at the US Naval Undersea Museum, 1 Garnett Way, Keyport, WA 98345. Participants should bring their club radios.

The tour will depart by Navy bus from the Museum at approximately 9:20 a.m. and will last until about 3:30 p.m. We will tour the Trident Training facility and one of their nuclear submarines and have lunch on base.

Be sure to wear closed-toe, comfortable shoes because there will be a lot of walking and climbing up and down 30-foot ladders in the submarine. Be prepared for a long, but very enjoyable day. Lunch will be at the commissary at a cost of about $6.50 per person. Be prepared to pay your tour leader in cash, as cashiers will only accept one payment for the group. All cell phones, Fitbits, cameras, weapons, and anything with Bluetooth or Wi-Fi capabilities MUST be left at home or in your vehicles. Everyone is subject to search on the base, and all electronics will be considered contraband and will be confiscated.

Please keep in mind that the subs are active and the Navy may be required to change the event date. Dwain will keep you informed about possible tour changes
